Our Favorite Non-Disney Hotel in Orlando
The Holiday Inn Resort Waterpark in Orlando is only a couple miles from Disney World and less than 15 minutes from Universal Studios, Sea World and plenty of local shopping. This is our favorite non-Disney hotel in Orlando because it offers an awesome waterpark with plenty of water slides, a splash pad, heated pool and hot tubs, plus KIDS EAT FREE!
Any family with growing kids knows finding places where there’s plenty of kid-friendly and healthy food options can sometimes be a challenge, but not here. At this hotel kids ages 11 and under can eat breakfast and dinner FREE! However, because kids eat free, we highly recommend getting down to breakfast early because the line can get long quick and sometimes it may take 20 minutes or more to get seated. If its an option, we suggest sending a family member to the line about 15 minutes before everyone else. The breakfast and dinner buffets provide a wide range of hot and cold options from waffles and pancakes to cereal and donuts, plus lots of fresh fruit. At dinner, there’s usually things like mashed potatoes, a casserole, other veggies and a warm meat (ham, turkey, roast), plus a dessert such as apple pie.
Things to do
Whether the family is returning from a theme park or taking a day to relax, the pool and waterpark here are amazing, and the water temperature is perfect. The waterpark has multiple large and small water slides, a giant bucket that empties on kids every 30 minutes or so, a splash pad, large heated pool with zero entry on one side, hot tubs, cabanas to rent and pool side entertainment. For family members not wishing to play at the pool there are also basketball courts, a small playground an arcade, 3D movie theatre, laser tag among some of the more popular activities.
All rooms in the hotel are suites, which include a small kitchen with a microwave, dishwasher and full-size refrigerator. The kitchen makes it nice to keep simple snacks, lunch foods and other items on hand instead of going out to another restaurant or choosing to not wait in line for breakfast. We’ve stayed at this resort more than once and had our own king-size room and the kids stayed in a comfy pull-out sofa bed. There were no complaints from anyone. I wish we’d taking pictures of our last stay there because this place is awesome, but we honestly were having so much fun we left the phones in the room and didn’t think about it.
